Review of Elle (2016) by Timothy A — 24 Apr 2017
Thought-provoking but largely unsuccessful tale of sexual assault, recovery and revenge. Not Verhoeven?s most exploitative work, but may well be his post contentious from the perspective of sexual politics.
Isabelle Huppert?s performance may well be her most accomplished in a career that isn?t short of highlights, but that?s largely because she has such a job in front of her creating some semblance of a believable character out of the script.
