Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Gerard D — 13 Feb 2010
Sir Walter Raleigh, Philip II of Spain, the entire Armada, the decapitation of Mary Stuart, evil plots, religious fanatism, romance, all in a lush, sumptious production design with intense music by Craig Armstrong.
Cate Blanchett injects divinity in her title role. And the battle on sea between England and the Spanish Armada is pure cinema gold. Nevermind the historical inaccuracies.
