Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Gustavo H — 24 Aug 2010
What a disappointment. While it certainly has some shining moments and solid performances, many of its beats simply retread ground well covered in the first film, and in doing so makes the climactic speech from that movie seem rather hollow.
Nor is it helped by possibly the most unexciting sea battle committed to celluloid: a confusing mess utterly lacking in dramatic tension despite its best attempts.
