Review of Elf (2003) by Joe A — 23 Dec 2012
Elf proves that Will Ferrell can be very funny with the right project and teamed up with director Jon Favreau, they have made a movie that is both entertaining comedy and charming Christmas tale. I always felt Ferrell is funnier playing naive, instead of obnoxious, and here he is at his best playing the innocent fish out of water, Buddy.
And in all fairness, Favreau makes good use of all the talent including a perfectly cast James Caan as Buddy's long lost dad and the charming Zooey Deschanel as Buddy's romantic interest. Enjoy the holiday fun.
A modern Christmas classic.
