Review of Elephant (2010) by Trent G — 21 Jan 2011
After the success of Good Will Hunting, Gus Van Sant realized that he now has the freedom to make movies that he finds interesting. He no longer needs to worry about commercial success. And there is no way that Hollywood would have made this movie, with the subject matter of Columbine, no screenplay, no "real" actors, and no explanations.
It is an argument against violence, but it doesn't bring Hollywood catharsis. It is honest and chilling.
