Review of El Topo (1970) by Benjamin G — 31 Aug 2007
Definitely one of the most unique and original films ever made. What begins as a surreal western in which a gunslinger dressed in black decides to fight four of the world's most notorious gunfighters for some sort of religious enlightenment, suddenly turns into an escape movie in which the resurrected gunslinger takes on the task of leading a group of imprisoned deformed dwarf prisoners to a town in which the main church holds a bizarre Russian Roulette-esque religious ceremony.
Jodorowsky is one of the most unique directors of our time. If you're bored of the same mainstream Hollywood movies coming out today, this movie is for you.
