Review of El Topo (1970) by The M — 15 May 2008
Words can't describe "El Topo". It is about everything, it is about nothing. It's an infuriatingly engaging mess of a film that does just about everything possible. It's insultingly brilliant, violently vibrant, frustratingly captivating, it's the most epic B Western ever created.
There is little dialogue, the film relies on images, incredibly dense images that will haunt you for weeks on end. Anyone hoping to find something to challenge themselves with can try, but don't say I didn't warn you.
