Review of El Dorado (1966) by Max M — 30 Sep 2008
By 1967, when this picture was made, director Howard Hawks was winding down his brilliant career and basically recycling his earlier material.
This could pretty much be considered a remake of his classic Rio Bravo, and of course it doesn't quite stand up to that film either, but it is still a damn fun film with terrific performances by all (including a young James Caan) and an always whip-smart script by Leigh Brackett.
