Review of El Dorado (1966) by Alice W — 08 Jun 2010
This movie never grows old. Beautifully directed, with a cast of actors you will not be disappointed with. While the sets might seen simple by today's standards they are still timely and effective.
Common theme's of loyalty - friendship and in a way the passing of the old for the young/new. Wayne is of course his iconic character. Yet this never grows old or tired. His character draws you in easily and keeps you there.
Sharing his spotlight with the sheriff Robert Mitchum , loveable Bull Arthur Hunnicutt and then newcomber James Caan. Seemingly a plot rehash of the 1959 movie Rio Bravo - also starring Wayne, but with enough differences to give the audience a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
