Review of El Cantante (2006) by Lori H — 06 Aug 2007
As a viewer, you have to keep in mind and understand that this is a movie about Puchi and Hector, the plot is not a biography of Lavoe's life or his music. It is hard for those of us that enjoyed that wonderful era of Fania but, it is what it is.
Puchi was exactly as portrait and the Hector I remember hanging with backstage in concerts - the "mano cualquiera" - is as portrait by Marc. Only problem I had, I was aware it was Marc Anthony playing Hector.
I wish they had close with a real Hector Lavoe performance. I sat at the movie theater waiting for a disappointment, at the end, I didn't want to leave!
