Review of Educating Rita (1983) by Claraclogs M — 16 Jan 2010
The excellent performances of the two leads more than make up for the shortcomings of Willy Russell's writing in this unusual comedy. Russell makes a number of interesting observations about class, freedom and education but risks obscuring the central idea that education creates choices for people with this thematic overburdening.
4 stars for the great partnership of Walters and Caine though!
