Review of Edmond (2006) by Janne K — 30 Oct 2007
I longed for the half-hour of exposition that I felt was left out of the beginning of the film. As it was, the protagonist remained to me a shallow puppet going through the motions; A mere implement for the moviemakers to try and deliver their message with.
Unfortunately the message too, seemed to have gone missing somewhere along the way. What I was left with was manic-depressively alternating brooding, raging and ranting set in a gloomy and uncaring world.
The film tried to push for surrealism, but save for the final scene, wasn't quite absurd enough. Not really my cup of tea.
