Not as good as the truly great, and much darker, miniseries, but still very good. Winstone is terrific, and Mel Gibson better than his terribly mediocre average. I'd have liked it to be a bit darker and more sombre, as the series was, but still.
..as holloywood adaptions go, this is much better than usual.
