Review of Eddie the Eagle (2016) by Tripping O — 19 Mar 2016
The best feel-good movie I've seen in a long time. And Hugh Jackman is easy on the eyes, too. Eddie has that indomitable spirit, that will to fight against all odds, and overcome all obstacles that should be what the Olympics is all about: a competition for amateurs who have the drive to compete and the the will to get back up again and again, to never accept defeat.
Unfortunately, because of Eddie's participation in the "88 Winter Olympics in Calgary, the rules were changed so that now, no country can send a competitor unless they are ranked in the top 30% of competitors in the world.
Sadly, as a result, the world will never see another hero like Eddie again. The movie takes a few liberties with the actual story but remains true to the spirit. Go see this movie. You will come out smiling, with a sense of hope.
