Review of Eddie the Eagle (2016) by Lilian L — 16 May 2016
Within the first few seconds of this movie starting, I just knew I was going to love this. There's a bubbling joy that seems to permeate the whole thing and it keeps bubbling away underneath the surface for the whole duration.
Everything about it is just about perfect - the inspirational 80s music, the comic touches, the sense of innocence, the likeability and sweetness of Eddie himself, the beautiful way the whole thing is shot - especially during the actual jumps that really give a sense of the peril of what he was doing and the courage required to do what he did.
I smiled pretty much the whole way, laughed and cried and left the theatre full of joy. And in the end, that's what movies are for.
