Review of Ed Wood (1994) by Megamoviereviewer D — 28 Apr 2011
A wonderfully-inspiring movie about the life and films of Edward D. Wood Jr. This is one of the most positively feel-good movies were it makes you want to go out and achieve your dream. This is one of the films that is extremely mandatory to anyone who absolutely adore the magic of movies and if they are young filmmakers and are looking for inspiration.
The acting in this movie is also superb. Johnny Depp as Ed Wood gleams with pride in his role as the noted worst director of all time. Ed Wood is portrayed as such a nice guy and we sympathize with him all the way through.
He has such a positive attitude and you can tell he just adores movies and wants to make movies just like his favorites (Dracula and Citizen Kane). Although he was a cross-dresser and did have trouble film making, he was motivated and had fight for his visions.
Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi is just unbelievable. That's all I can say. This movie also uses an excellent blend of comedy and Tim Burton gives his traditional style to it. Really an amazing movie.
