Review of Ed Wood (1994) by Zac S — 25 Feb 2012
Director Tim Burton crafts an oddly whimsical tribute to the most infamously terrible filmmaker of all in this mythical biopic. Johnny Depp plays the titular "hero", a naive and talentless tranvestite who makes bizarre films on a shoestring budget.
Depp performs well, but most of the honors go to Martin Landau for his amazing job in the role of a washed-up (and drug addicted) Bela Lugosi. Overall, Ed Wood is a movie that is equal parts funny and touching.
I firmly believe that it's Tim Burton's finest work.
