Review of Eaten Alive (1976) by John S — 07 Sep 2008
A quirky grindhouse flick from the 70's. Tobe Hooper's followup to Texas Chainsaw and has a similar feel to it except nothing as horrific as Leatherface or his family. Instead we have a crazed keeper of a hotel who rambles nonsense to himself and feeds victims to his pet alligator.
Robert Englund shows up as Buck "who wants to fuck", as referenced years later in Kill Bill. The different colored gel lighting and swamp set is pretty impressive but the croc could have been pulled off better considering this was post-Jaws.
I enjoy this nutty movie for what it is.
