A film that baby-boomers would defend on the merit of it being from the 60s and therefore it's unfallible. I was born in the early 80s and maybe that's where I don't get this film that lacked a plot.

The film had many chances to keep me hooked in but failed to deliver anything of substance. Jack Nicholson was the best part of the film and I would have been fine if Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper were cut completely out of the story and it focused exclusively on Jack; too bad Jack dies 15 minutes after he arrives on screen.

An LSD trip caught on film solidifies the death of the audiences attention and is the springboard for the applause I gave when both Fonda and Hopper are gunned down by a redneck in a truck. At the end of the film I was left feeling like I wasted an hour and a half of my life and came away without a lasting impression of what moral there was to the story; as the story was non-existent.

If this film were released today it would got straight to DVD/Streaming as it would not hold up with the more refined pallet of today's film consumers.
