One of the great independent masterpieces. Beneath the surface level of drugs and rock n' roll is the ugly evolution of the hippie movement and a somber requiem for the American dream. The odyssey of two motorcycling companions is met with oppression from small town conformists and debunked by their own hypocritical lifestyle.
Easy Rider is loaded with symbolisim that pierces the fabric woven by pure, organic filmmaking. It's revolutionary editing is jarring, sometimes offensive. The performances are supremely original.
Although Easy Rider is extremely dated, it is continually prophetic.
