Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Matthew L — 08 Aug 2009
A stunning portrait of the American countercultural movement of the 1960's. All of the performances are spot on here; Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda doing terrific work as the leads on a cross-country bike trip to nowhere in particular.
However, it is Jack Nicholson who steals the show. His performance is equal parts hilarious and deadly serious; the epitome of an American outlaw. Easy Rider is a snapshot of everything that was right and wrong with the sex, drugs and rock n' roll movement of the '60's.
It is a masterpiece.
