Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Jason D — 07 Nov 2009
I have to say I completely hated this movie! Hate, hate, hated it. The film had no plot, no emotional tension, and horrific acting. I usually have respect for classics but to me I am at lost to how this film even made the grade and found a place in the historical archives. The film tells about two motor bikers who are--get this--easy riders. That's surprising. Pretty much film is a large collection of montages that stops occasionally to watch the two do drugs, get thrown in jail, and have sex. That was the plot, if you even dare consider it that. People get murdered right in front of their eyes and they don't seem to care at all. The ending was the worst part. I am going to tell you it because I don't consider it a spoiler. There is no build up, no real reason behind it. The two rider are driving (in yet another montage) and some dude drive up next to them in a truck and say "I'm going to scare them!".
Then they proceed to shoot them both. The end.
This was one of the biggest wastes of my time. I have never seen a more pointless movie that has nothing to say and nothing happens. The only good part of this was the soundtrack which might have revolutionized the way we have music in movies. Great songs, bad movie.
