Review of Easy Rider (1969) by James-Masaki R — 15 Feb 2011
It's probably one of the most important movies ever made, and it does get that credit it deserves, but I think a lot of the themes and the issues addressed in the film will become lost over time. It is a perfect snapshot of America at the end of the 1960's, with drugs, alienation, hippies, racism, bigotry, all clashing together into what we see as history now.
Dennis Hopper crafted an incredible art film that challenged moviegoers and critics, and to this day he barely gets the credit for it, but thankfully, it still is remembered as the iconic counterculture film of its day.
There's nothing like it anymore.
