Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Wesley R — 06 Mar 2011
Movie studios took notice that low-budget films could make them big bucks after the success of this film. Honestly, this film just makes me wish I could take a road trip more than anything else. Well..
.that is until our counterculture "cowboys" experience the very hostile culture clash that America was experiencing and the paradox of how people can hate the very thing they love about America: freedom and expressions of it.
The scenery is beautiful and the music used is perfect. If you're not into the counterculture movement or films that focus on it, then you probably will not appreciate this film. There is a story, but it is drawn out and at times aimless.
This didn't bother me too much except for a scene where the characters drop LSD in a cemetery. Why they thought a place that represents death was perfect for this (turns out it's not) is beyond me and seemed to only serve as symbolism that's honestly too heavy-handed.
