Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Marty H — 11 Mar 2013

This movie was a trip. No, literally, it was 1 hour and 35 minutes of constant weed smoking and alcohol guzzling with a chance of scattered acid showers. I am giving it 3 stars, not because of this indie-film's reputation, but because Easy Rider has one of my all-time favorite Jack Nicholson roles. With Jack's acting career and his long list of memorable character portrayals, this one took me by surprise and gave me purpose to finish the movie. Without him, the movie was mainly on "fast-forward" skipping through long, pointless motorcycle rides as if the film were more music video than movie. The late Dennis Hopper was on acid when he wrote this, he was on acid while he acted in it and directed it, but I am eager to listen to his commentary 40 years later on the DVD.

Only see this if it is a film assignment, if you do a lot of drugs and have nothing better to do with your time, if you need something trendy to play in the background while you tat people up, or if you want to see an amazing drunken Jack Nicholson.
