Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Gary D — 26 Apr 2012
One of the strangest and bloodiest films I have ever seen. The pacing was slow and this was the slowest ninety-six minute film I have seen but the plot twists and the amazing acting by Viggo Mortensen made up for it.
Thing is, this what I typically expect from David Cronenberg. If you were not a fan of his films, chances are you probably thought this film was a History of Violence meets Donnie Brasco ripoff. The acting however made up for a lot of deficiencies.
The plot twists involving Semyon was scary great. Not for the faint of heart but definitely one of the best films of 2007.
