Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Kali K — 12 Oct 2013
The best movie critics would tell you that one of the greatest things about film is the ability to escape into another world. Some may call this atmosphere, but I would say it's more of an Alice in Wonderland style peephole.
That's what makes "Eastern Promises" worthwhile. Although it may not contain the high intensity that some movie-goers desire, it maintains a strong story line throughout. Although some may argue, I feel that character connection and story maintenance are overall more important than suspense.
Is this the perfect gangster movie? No. Is it a solid contribution to the world of mob movies? Absolutely.
