Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Larry C — 25 Dec 2015
Viggo Mortensen and Naomi star in Eastern Promises. The film centers around a small area of Russian that features the Russian mob. Watts delivers birth to a child to a prostitute who dies during child birth and becomes interested in the mother's life after uncovering her diary.
She comes across a driver (Mortensen) who is trying to move his way up in the mob. The contents of the diary are vital as they uncover aspects of that threaten the mob. Eastern Promises was an interesting movie that features good performances and some pretty good scenes.
The film is not action centered and does its pace will likely detract people. Although I thought it was a solid drama, the film does not have enough resolve for me to see it again.
