Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Ryan Gibbons — 04 Oct 2010
Viggo Mortensen gives one of the most flawless performances in modern movies, his Russian accent is so spot on that it's pretty hard to think that he's actually acting. Cronnenberg went in the right direction with this one.
Unlike A history of violence, which is just gore galore. This violence is much smarter and more intense rather than being graphic for no other reason than he likes blood. Vincent Cassell is also very good.
Eastern Promises is a brutal, and quite intense story while maintaining a compelling storyline. It might make you cringe every once in a while, but its worth a watch.
