Review of East of Eden (1955) by Suveera A — 03 Oct 2008
One of the greatest American directors of his era ever, Elia Kazan, presents this classic film as his poignant look at an intensely intimate portrait of the tumultous relationship between two brothers and their estranged parents.
The explosive story strikes deep within the heart and stirs up such great emotions of anger, agony, confusion and so forth as amazingly enacted by the brilliant actor James Dean, who truly is the one and only true main challenging rival of best actor Marlon Brando's acting genius.
Dean exquisitely proves his genius as good as Brando's, if not better, as exemplified by his sorrowful rejection by his father because of his gift. Totally over-whelming and heart-shattering, this film will indelibly stick in the viewer's mind.
