Review of Earth to Echo (2014) by Rogga F — 10 Jul 2014
At first I didn't want to watch this movie at all, but I came out the theater liking it very much. I'm probably over-rating it to be honest because I went in expecting something incredibly bad but got a lighthearted, kid-friendly movie about friendship and some teen struggles that similarly I had gone through several years ago such as being ignored by your parents for things such as arguments or television or work or whatever and dealing with the struggle of loosing a friend/friends who is/are moving away.
The thing is that this movie deals with it in a way where it seems like helping Echo (which is the alien) is the main plot but is actually just a big subplot as to where the true plot is friendship. I really did enjoy the film a lot (again because I was expecting a crap movie) but I did really hate the fact that it's a "found footage" type of movie which has moments where it works and has moments where it's just flat annoying.
If you really enjoy stories about friends embarking on a fun adventure then definitely worth experiencing in theaters and if not, then I'd say it's a solid "Friday night rental".
