Review of Early Man (2018) by Late R — 20 Oct 2018
Aardman's animation is as nice as ever and the caveman setting is interesting, but the story is paper thin, lacks depth, and involves humour that is on the simple side. In fact, everything seems to be aimed at a young audience this time around which means that kids will be adequately entertained, but adults probably aren't going to be as satisfied.
Nevertheless, it's saved from being a complete own goal by the likeable characters (although not exactly complex, by any stretch of the imagination), voiced by a talented cast, and the general sweet tone that'll make you smile, even if it doesn't do much else.
