Review of Dutch (1991) by R H — 11 Oct 2008
Ed O'Neill is actually a great actor and his Al Bundy is no doubt a classic comedic TV character. Dutch has him playign a character that is fundamentally different from Bundy and by allo means he is good and holds the movie together.
My problem with Dutch is that the kid is so bad and annoying that it compeltely fucks the movie up and makes me think it sucks. Yeah I know he is supposed to be a little preppie shithead but he seems so scripted and fake, plus the cartoony violence clearly influenced by Home Alone is very weak too.
I'd rather watch Married with Children or Planes,Trains and Automobiles back to back. Like I said, O'Neill is good in this and its a shame because it is a showcase to prove that he is more than Al Bundy in comedy and I wish that I could rate this higher based off of him but it really is just another road trip.
Dump the lady and tell her that her son is too bourg.
