Review of Dust Devil (1992) by Bryan W — 04 Mar 2009
One thing this film possesses that few do is a stamp of originality, but what it has in good intentions it lacks in coherent writing, directing, and editing. The performances are rendered flat by the obviously dubbed dialogue and much of the plot is lost in a boring jumble, but occasionally good scenes pop up to remind you of what you could be seeing in the hands of a better filmmaker.
Still, the marks of originality make this worth seeing. I can only offer criticism from the point of view of the director's cut. I can't vouch for any other version of the film, and, judging from what I've seen, any cut could be wildly different.
