Review of Dust Devil (1992) by Will D — 06 Jul 2009
Both flawed and ambitious, Dust Devil is striking in its imagery and imagination but let down by acting that is merely adequate. I've heard interviews which illuminate how difficult it was to post-produce the film, the owners of it just gave up on it after a huge financial collapse. It's as desolate as Hardware but in a different way.
Richard Stanley is a master director, so many shots in it are breathtakingly beautiful. By rights he ought to have money thrown at him for the purpose of making films.
