Review of Duplicity (2009) by Glen S — 06 Mar 2010
Duplicity is a very smart caper, perhaps too smart for its own good. For the first 15 minutes it's really unclear what is going on and it's off-putting. The story eventually unwinds via haphazard flashbacks but the damage is mostly done by then.
I guess that no company has a counter-intelligence division anywhere near as structured as the one in this movie, but if they did it would be very interesting to work there. This could have sparked a return to the old cloak and dagger type espionage movies from the cold-war era but it was mishandled and fell flat. That said it's worth watching.
