Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Tony H — 26 Dec 2017
I was really looking forward to this film after missing it in cinemas but the disappointment I felt at seeing it was only alleviated by the fact I didn't pay cinema costs! It is so boring, zero character development and some characters I had no idea why they were running around doing what they were.
The time line is staggered which would be fine but it serves little purpose the way its done and is actually a bit annoying, as it feels like someone just trying to be clever. I did not feel it portrayed war or Dunkirk in particular at all, not that I would know, but compared to films like saving private Ryan or hacksaw ridge this is not good at all.
Like a very sanitized, clean war film with pretty people.
