Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Marnie O — 17 Aug 2017
Completely enthralling, a pacifists' war-film. Every aspect of this film feels perfectly balanced- all war time and genre cliches are just irrelevant. The narrative is strong and clear and cohesive, and Nolan has captured some of the essence not just of the war, but of what it means to be human.
The narrative is morally ambigous and devastating in its impact.
