Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Joy B — 14 Aug 2017
It's difficult to say that I enjoyed this film, it's just not the kind of film you enjoy.
It is however, a great film which tells a story of harrowing experiences and everyday people who step up to answer a plea for help.
Every moment of this film is finely crafted to produce an emotional response. The acting is superb, the cinematography is beautifully epic and the score by Hans Zimmer is breathtaking. From the throb of engines and the the explosions of bombs to as simple heartbeat, the soundtrack guides your pulse through this emotional roller-coaster.
The only thing that I dislike about this film is the way that it is edited together. The same scenes are shown again and again from different angles and at different times and make the film feel disjointed.
