Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Ilya B — 17 Oct 2018
The film set in 1940 during the battle of France, when allied soldiers were trapped on the beach near the French city of Dunkirk. It tells the story of few characters: Tommy, a young British trooper, Farrier, a pilot of Royal Air Forces and Mr. Dawson, a civil sailor who took part in evacuation.
Little by little, you realise that German forces are surrounding allied troops. The tension builds up as the civil fleet ships are approaching the French coast. 300 000 men are desperately waiting for help under the constant bombings and the danger of German offense.
The film is quite moving and thought-provoking because it facilitates you to think about the value of life. The outstanding musical accompaniment by Hans Zimmer, the real master of suspense, allows you to feel all the emotions, experienced by movie characters.
5/5.
