Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Lance A — 01 Aug 2017
The movie does not get across the scale of the effort, has a weird time shift with editing from day to night to day (I completly lost track at this point in time) and follows the story of a ship which left me underwhelmed at the end.
In an age where CGI allows us to have 10000 orcs and armies on screen, this movie shows 8 luftwaffer, 9 RAF and 12 merchant boats all on 1 day.
The actual dunkirk events was 8 days, 16 RAF squadrons and 800 boats - the scale this move fails to make felt or deliver - yes the emotion is there, but not the scale and that left the movie flat.
