Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Arun K — 28 Jul 2017
A low point in WW2 for the allied forces is made rivetting and pacy with Nolan at the helm. Some beautiful shots and camera angles from the air. Non-linear abstract narration within sub-plots delivers, even without fully developed characters.
Civilian patriotism (loosely used these days) was the miracle that saved the day. From there it is easy to see how the army would have recouped and taken the war back to the Germans. Human resourcefulness (selfish/selfless) during war is cleverly portrayed.
With mostly an english cast, this may very much end up being a British national treasure!
