This film seems to almost miss its big moment. When The Little Ships arrive on the horizon, on their way to rescue 300,000 troops there are.... about twenty. After the throbbing and insistent score, designed no doubt, to un-nerve the viewer and set your teeth on edge, one feels a little short changed by the damp squib of a rescue.
