Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Jim L — 20 Jul 2017
I had high hopes for Dunkirk based on the critic reviews. Almost left half way through, it was that bad. The film is Not uplifting and has a strong thread of hopelessness. Nolan, who brilliantly directed the Batman Dark Knight series, has mistakenly brought some of those elements into Dunkirk.
The soundtrack is wound up so tight you keep expecting an explosion every minute. The film, on the other hand, really drags. You never get to know or feel for any of the characters. It's like watching what should have been a great movie through a telescope.
Bottom line, the film lacks heart and soul. And last, but not least, Churchill, who was central, has almost no mention in the film. Don't waste your time.
