Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Jen P — 20 Jul 2017
Wow. Such a subtly immersive film with something rare in the world of movies today: little to no dialogue. Minimal character backgrounds truly allow the audience to focus on one thing and that is the desperation to survive.
Newcomers Whitehead and Styles offer contrasting soldiers who endured in the unimaginable in Dunkirk. Both show fear and different views on survival. The most nail-biting moments take place in all 3 depictions of land, air, and sea.
Not to mention the most heart-breaking moment happening to a civilian on a boat.
