Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Sharon M — 21 Jul 2017
I loved the film, despite the fact I'm not at all a fan of war movies.
And in the interest of keeping this brief, I only want to address one point the nay-saying critics cite in their Rotten reviews: the somewhat non-linear "triple narrative" is NOT a distraction, nor should it be difficult to follow for anyone who can sit for 1hr 45min without freaking out in anticipation of who posted another cat video or picture of their dinner on Facebook.
The dialogue is a little hard to discern at times, as it likely would have been in the midst of battle, but the objective is pretty clear.
The cinematography and sound played a huge role, as did Tom Hardy's eyes.
See it on as big of a screen as possible, and if you're fortunate enough to be close to a theater that projects in 70mm, for goodness sake, don't miss the chance to see it in that format!
