Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Zach R — 22 Jul 2017
What a generic, run of the mill action movie,no characters, repetive scenes of planes shooting at boats, soldiers swimming, planes shooting at planes, the same soundtrack you heard 6 times ramps up again.
. no characters means no emotional attachment, if the "genius" Nolan was trying to show the horrors of war then he needed an R rating... with this it feels like watching a really bad made for TV movie with a big budget, only person who has an arc in this movie is Mark Roylance.
I've heard some say, you don't need characters,it's about the event, not the people in it..but like Rogue One..who cares about specifically the event? Especially since it's not remotely accurate from a historical standpoint, which I don't mind but you need to show the characters involved in this, there's such little tension in the movie and it's only brought up by Hans Zimmers music.
.Nolan man...this is your first film I've seen that I didn't, at the very least enjoy...
