Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Water L — 22 Jul 2017
Excellent cinematography and CG. Character development and storyline needs work however. Only 106 minutes? Scene showed perhaps 40-50 pleasure boats coming to the rescue - when in reality there there over 800 - given CG's capabilities, I would think showing the sheer volume of citizen boats on the water would have had a greater impact.
I also am disappointed that a 5-minute single take tracking shot (which was incredible, see it on YouTube) didn't make it to the final film and is sitting on a cutting room floor. But Mr. Nolan must have had his reasons.
