Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Thomas M — 22 Jul 2017

Christopher Nolan delivers another truly remarkable film, supported by an exemplary score from legendary composer Hans Zimmer. With a sound design achievement for the ages, no wonder Dunkirk won two Oscars (Sound Mixing, Sound Editing).

This was a visual feast as well, with stunning landscape shots of the vast ocean, war-ravaged island, and the majestic sky through which ace pilots engaged in dog-fights, protecting the soldiers on the island and in boats below.

Rich, emotional character development was also present, with strong performances from the likes of Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, and Mark Rylance. I cannot believe how many times I said the word "wow" throughout my viewing.
