Review of Dunkirk (2017) by James B — 01 Aug 2017
First off, I am not a "wordy" reviewer. My goal here is to not "WOW" an audience with an extensive vocabulary, but rather just share my feelings/opinions about the movie. Dunkirk was an interesting film, in regards to the second World War, but boring . Expectations can be a bad thing when it comes to movies especially when we are inclined to compare other movies of a similar genre. With that being said Dunkirk started out with similar elements of a war movie with intense background music and vague screenplay that would draw someone to the edge of there seats, but then failed to deliver the "war" part of the movie.
After the movie there was a father and son walking in front of me out of the theater and I heard the dad say to his son" That movie had me tense through the whole movie." I thought, why? Nothing happened! Again, perhaps my expectations weren't necessarily too high or low, but rather just misplaced on what the purpose of the movie was to be.
